Alongside the cathedral of Ferrara, built from 1133, a bell tower was built in diffeerent phases. A certain historiographical tradition has attributed to Alberti an intervention on the bell tower, other authors consider it unlikely to be. The question is not yet finally clarified for the lack to of documents confirming or denying Alberti’s paternity. The paper recognizes Alberti’s hand in a part of the Bell tower,on a comparative and material base, revising the interpretation given by Rykwert.
